Fake Review Policy

Last updated: June 2026 · Applies to all reviews on MyTradingReviews

!Zero tolerance

Fake, incentivised, or manipulated reviews are strictly prohibited — whether they come from a reviewer, a business, or a third party. We remove them, and we act against the accounts and companies responsible. The value of this platform depends entirely on reviews being real.

MyTradingReviews is an independent platform where traders share genuine, first-hand experiences with brokers, prop firms, trading platforms, and academies. This policy explains what we consider a fake or prohibited review, how our moderation and detection work, and what happens when the rules are broken. It applies to everyone who uses the platform and works alongside our Review Guidelines, Business Guidelines, and Trust & Transparency commitments.

1. What Counts as a Fake or Prohibited Review

We treat the following as fake or prohibited, regardless of whether the rating is positive or negative:

  • Fabricated experiences — a review of a product or service the reviewer never actually used.
  • Self-reviews & competitor attacks — reviews written by a company about itself, by its owners, staff, or affiliates, or about a competitor.
  • Bought or traded reviews — reviews that are purchased, sold, exchanged, or sourced through third parties or “review farms”.
  • Incentivised reviews — reviews left in exchange for money, discounts, gifts, account upgrades, or other benefits that are conditional on leaving a review or on giving a positive rating.
  • Coordinated manipulation — organised campaigns to artificially inflate or attack a company’s score, vote brigading, and duplicate reviews from the same person.
  • Identity & automation abuse — reviews posted under a false identity, through multiple accounts, or generated by bots or scripts.
  • Review gating — filtering customers so that only the satisfied ones are invited or able to leave a review.

2. How We Detect Fake Reviews

Every review is screened before it is published. We use a layered approach that combines technology with human judgement.

Automated signals

  • Submission patterns and timing, including sudden spikes of activity on a company’s profile.
  • Device, browser, and network signals used to spot multiple accounts or automated submissions.
  • Content analysis for duplication, templated text, and other markers of inauthentic reviews.

Verification

Reviewers can earn a Verified badge by providing evidence of a genuine experience — such as proof of an account, a payout, or a purchase. Verification speaks to the authenticity of the experience, not to the opinion expressed; unverified reviews are still genuine submissions from confirmed users.

Human moderation & community reports

  • Our team manually reviews flagged content and anything our systems mark as suspicious.
  • Anyone — traders or businesses — can report a review using the Report option, and every report is assessed.

3. Action We Take

1
Remove the review
Reviews found to be fake or in breach of this policy are taken down.
2
Suspend or ban accounts
Accounts responsible may be suspended or permanently banned, and associated devices blocked.
3
Flag the business
Where a company solicits or posts fake or incentivised reviews, we may remove affected reviews, display a warning notice on its profile, and restrict its access to business features.
4
Report serious abuse
Unlawful or large-scale manipulation may be reported to the relevant authorities.

4. Businesses: What You May and May Not Do

You are welcome to invite genuine customers to leave honest reviews. To keep things fair:

You may

  • Invite all of your customers neutrally, regardless of whether you expect a positive or negative review.
  • Respond publicly and professionally to reviews about your company.
  • Report reviews you believe break our rules for our team to assess.

You may not

  • Offer money, discounts, gifts, or other incentives in exchange for a review or for a positive rating.
  • Cherry-pick or gate reviews so only happy customers can leave them.
  • Write reviews about your own company, or ask staff, friends, or affiliates to.
  • Pressure reviewers, or ask for genuine negative reviews to be removed.

Full details are in our Business Guidelines.

5. Reporting a Suspicious Review

If you believe a review is fake or breaks this policy, use the Report option on the review and choose the reason that fits best, or email trust@mytradingreviews.com with as much detail as you can — links, dates, and context all help us investigate faster.

6. Appeals

If your review was removed or your account was actioned and you believe it was a mistake, you can appeal by replying to the notice you received or emailing trust@mytradingreviews.com. We will review the decision and may ask for evidence to support a genuine experience.

7. Our Ongoing Commitment

The tactics used to manipulate reviews change constantly, and so do our defences. We continuously improve our detection systems, refine our policies, and act on what the community reports — so that traders can trust what they read and honest businesses are treated fairly.
